This video shows the REE DU65 Draisine in action, complete with the operating sounds build into the locomotive.

A Draisine is a small rail vehicle used by railway personnel for the maintenance of railway.

The name came from German Baron Karl Christian Ludwig Drais von Sauerbronn, who invented a small human powered vehicle for the task.

I have to admit I really like these little locomotives, and am sad that they are only available in 2 rail DC/DCC versions – at least for the moment.

Seeing REE branch into 3 rail trains this year gives me hope that one day I can have one running on my 3 rail layout.

For now though I will just be content with this video.
